There are a number of different shapes and styles of tuners available. Open gear tuners, gold tuners, tuners with engraved knobs and slotted tuners give the vintage look while nickel tuners, and tuners with wood knobs give more of a contemporary feel.
As you can tell, I've only touched a little bit on the infinite possibilities. The starting block of the design process should start with the selection of the top, sides and back wood, all of the other parts should hinge off of these selections. Remember, this is a custom made guitar, don't be afraid to dream big!

Inlays
It is very difficult to place inlays into a look or feel category. The design possibilities are endless. Too much inlay work can take away from the feel of the guitar. The most important rule is to follow the look of the guitar. Have traditional style inlays added to a traditional looking guitar. Contemporary guitars lend well to unique inlay designs.
